Why adapters

If the total cord set is not approved for use in a specific country, it cannot be used. In many applications, commercial OEM original equipment manufacturer equipment either requires safety approvals or they are requested by the customers who purchase them. These approvals demonstrate that the entire system is deemed to meet all constructional and safety requirements in regards to the end use.

Many of the agencies that issue these approvals do not view the use of adapters acceptable, making obtaining the approvals difficult or impossible. There are no international standards that cover their construction or testing for safety purposes in OEM applications. Many safety agencies view adapters as being unsafe for many applications beyond personal use—especially for more complex devices or where numerous people could interact with the product.

One of the biggest concerns with this is the lack of control over usage when numerous people have access to the equipment. There is nothing to stop someone from taking the adapter to use elsewhere—where it might not be appropriate and could lead to an incident.

Many users of adapters do not understand their true function and this leads to a potentially dangerous misconception that an adapter magically transforms the voltage and frequency to the right level for the equipment.

This error in thinking is even common in the travel industry, where these devices originated. Integrated DNA extraction, automatic fragmentation, library preparation, and library normalization are included in the protocol.

Filter by method, species, and more. Compare, share, and order kits. Our partners have developed both high- and low-throughput walk-away automation methods that span our library prep portfolio.

Increase the number of samples sequenced per run and optimize high-throughput sequencing using unique dual index adapters. Unique molecular identifiers UMIs provide error correction and accuracy. They can reduce false-positive variant calls while increasing variant detection sensitivity.

Adapter Ligation. Uniformity, Precision and Reliability in Library Preparation Ligation technology offers flexibility for many study designs, now with fewer steps. What is Adapter Ligation Technology? How Does Our Technology Compare? Applications of Adapter Ligation Technology. Molecular barcoding: Unique molecular identifiers UMIs provide the highest levels of error correction and accuracy. UMIs are short sequences, often with degenerate bases, that incorporate a unique barcode onto each molecule within a given sample library.

UMI deduplication is useful for RNA-seq gene expression analysis and other quantitative sequencing methods. UMIs have also been shown to reduce the rate of false-positive variant calls and increase sensitivity of variant detection.

By incorporating individual barcodes on each original DNA fragment, variant alleles present in the original sample true variants can be distinguished from errors introduced during library preparation, target enrichment, or sequencing Figure 2. Any identified errors can be removed by bioinformatics methods before final data analysis.

Adapter manufacturing: Stringent manufacturing methods are critical for producing high quality NGS adapters. Substandard manufacturing practices can lead to low purity adapters or adapter cross-contamination, either of which will negatively impact sequencing results. Choose IDT adapter products based on your experimental needs. The Custom NGS Adapters provide a step-by-step tool to help you configure adapters best suited for your research.
